Deepest Sympathy

I just learned that someone on my Bright Wishes mailing list has passed away after a long battle with health complications. Deepest sympathy to her family and friends. While I didn't know her personally, I feel a bit of a connection having written her name. The brief notes I received about her in association with my mailing list showed that people cared deeply about her. I'm sure she will be missed. Here's a small tribute to Lori. Rest in peace...

Sharing Bright Wishes

Thanks to those of you who have signed up for Bright Wishes mail. I'm happy to have the opportunity to send hand-lettered pieces to people who might enjoy them. Some of you provided me with insight about the people who are now receiving these mailings, and I have to say that it was very helpful. I had expected to send out quotes that were generally positive and motivating. But the stories a few of you shared with me made me stop and think about the quotes I was selecting. I made some changes to my choices based on this information. It made me try a little harder to make a "mass" mailing more personal. Please feel free to sign up other people who might appreciate this, or let me know if you have thoughts on the content.

Good things come to those who wait?

Lettering Lately blog
Sorry my Bright Wishes Snail Mailing is late! There are a number of quotes (or cliches) I might use here. "Time flies when you're having fun." "Better late than never." "Waiting is the hardest part."

My sincere apologies for those who have not yet received Bright Wishes mail! It's really on it's way now. I hope you think it's worth the wait!

Sending Bright Wishes to someone's mailbox

Now that the holidays are over, we're moving forward on our resolutions, right? I'm trying to do something nice with lettering. Maybe you're trying to do something nice for others too. If you know someone who could use a positive message, feel free to sign them up for Bright Wishes, and they will receive a monthly(ish) mailing including a hand-lettered quote or phrase in a hand-addressed envelope. It's free, and with no strings attached.

Bright Wishes for 2016

Bright Wishes snal mail - free sign up
It's been quite a while since I've posted. I've been thinking about new lettering endeavors, among other things.  And I've decided that I really would like to do something nice with my lettering practice in the coming year. So I've decided to offer Bright Wishes Snail Mail. It's mail that will be sent right to an actual, physical mail box, provided for no reason other than to cheer someone up. And it's free.

Mailings will include an inspirational quote or phrase, hand-lettered by me and digitally printed on cardstock. The size might vary each time, but it will fit in a regular envelope which I will also hand-address. I'll send them every other month, maybe more.

So, if you know someone who could use a little cheer or inspiration in their mailbox, please sign them up. Maybe they are lonely, sick, or just overwhelmed. Hopefully this mail will bring a smile. Maybe they'll keep it. Maybe they'll share it. Each one will be like a little surprise.

Sign up by sending me the person's name and mailing address via this form or email. You can tell me their story, or don't. It's up to you. If you do, it might help inspire the next quote I choose to send, but I won't use the information for anything else. And I won't tell them you signed them up. I'll leave that up to you if you choose. I won't use their addresses for anything else, and if they want to unsubscribe, they can just email me. I'll include a note telling them that. There are no strings attached.

I will get benefits from this... I'll get a new outlet for my lettering practice, and will have another motivation to try new styles and layouts. I'll get to use up some of my extra paper and envelopes. I'll also get to know (or think, anyway) that I'm doing something nice, however small it might be, for someone who needs it.

Check back here for updates about this program.  Tell your friends to visit here to and sign people up. You can also check my Instagram feed (@brightwinterstudio) for pictures of the pieces I send.

Mailings start in January.
